As the holiday season ramps up, I figured I’d post one of my past Advent studies in case it might come in handy for you this year. One of my all-time favorite Christmas movies is It’s a Wonderful Life, and a few years ago I ran across a Bible study by Stephen Skelton based on the film. We definitely had fun with it in class, and I hope you do too.
As with most Advent studies, The Gospel of It’s a Wonderful Life Bible Study is presented in four sessions. They cover, in order:
- Goodness
- Godliness
- Prayers
- Miracles
There is an accompanying leader guide and DVD which I encourage you to get, as the DVD segments are reviewed in the lesson plans. You could also consider playing the movie itself over the course of the four sessions. In my opinion, you can never see this one too many times.
One of my favorite parts of this study was digging up movie trivia for It’s a Wonderful Life. I’ve included some of this trivia in the lesson plans to be shared with your group.
Whatever you study this Advent season, I do hope it brings you joy!
