I wasn’t planning on my next post being yet another one from Amy-Jill Levine, but I found out that another Sunday School class at our church was just starting The Difficult Words of Jesus. I figured my lessons from a few years back might come in handy, so I’m posting them now.
As the title suggests, Levine unpacks some of the harder teachings of Jesus. She covers six such passages in chapters titled:
- Sell What You Own
- Hate Father and Mother
- Slave of All
- Nowhere Among the Gentiles
- Outer Darkness
- Your Father the Devil
I’ve got links to the associated Leader Guide and DVD in my lesson plans. However, I kind of went rogue on this one as I found an interesting interview with Levine on YouTube that covers the book topics. I’ve provided YouTube links in the lesson plans if you want to follow suit. Otherwise, I’m sure the DVD segments would be good as well.
